A Potrero Process
March 2019
Shortly after settling into our California Street home, we realized we’d be outgrowing it sooner than projected and set out to search for our next home. We toured office spaces throughout Oakland and San Francisco. The day we stepped foot in Potrero, we immediately got to work driving the sublease process.
July 2019
The architectural design process began with our project partners, Studio Plow and Huntsman Architecture. We developed the preliminary space plan, which indicates walls, doors, interior glazing, millwork, furniture sizes and location, location of key overhead elements, and work-group locations. We began attending weekly meetings with all project partners followed by a walkthrough of the jobsite.
September 2019
We confirmed the design direction in the context of goals and budget, and developed the three-dimensional properties of the project through elevations, sections, and sketches. We indicated general partitions, power/data locations, ceiling components, light fixture quantities and types, as well as finish legends and schedules. Our partners developed concept drawings and sketches to describe any specialty components.
January 2020
Powered workstation and ancillary furniture installations.
February 2020
At substantial completion of construction, we conducted punchlist walk-throughs to QA the project and identify any work determined incomplete or unsatisfactory.
August 2020
In the midst of Covid-19 stay at home orders, we reconsidered safety and health precautions, and continued to complete punch work for final occupancy sign off.
September 2020
Created a resale tax ID, set up Square payment processing, and stocked the shelves of our first internal shop, Marché.
